Communicable Disease encompasses a broad grouping of human illness. The PA Reportable Disease List provides a guide for Erie County Department of Health (ECDH) services.

• Surveillance activities are conducted on all of these diseases/occurrences.
• On site clinical services are provided for some diseases, such as Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Disease, HIV, and Vaccine Preventable Disease.
• Phone investigation and education are provided for foodborne/waterborne illnesses.  Interaction between multiple divisions of ECDH occurs for these reports.
• Animal bites are reportable to ECDH by providers and the public.  Follow up is designed to prevent human rabies and future hazardous animal encounters.
