Food Safety Welcome

The Erie County Department of Health annually licenses and inspects approximately 1,500 restaurants, 400 grocery stores, and 600 temporary food vendors.

Anyone interested in obtaining a food license must submit an Application and complete the plan review process.

Examples of facilities that are licensed and inspected include: restaurants, churches, fire halls, senior center kitchens, soup kitchens, grocery stores, clubs, mobile food vehicles, hot dog carts, candy makers, cafeterias, caterers, bakeries, concession stands, and vending companies.

The Department also offers food safety education courses and is always available to answer food safety questions from the public.
