The Environmental Division’s Water Quality program enforces the rules and regulations of the Clean Streams Law and the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act in Erie County.
The goal is to protect the health of the public and the waters of the Commonwealth. This is accomplished by routinely monitoring permitted sewage discharges, conducting on-site inspections, and responding to unpermitted spills and discharges. The Division also regulates and issues permits for on lot septic systems in Erie County.
